Nước thải công nghiệp dệt nhuộm đặc trưng bởi hàm lượng cao các hợp chất màu tổng hợp, chất hữu cơ bền vững sinh học và ion kim loại nặng, tiềm ẩn nguy cơ gây rối loạn hệ sinh thái thủy sinh và ảnh hưởng đến sức khỏe cộng đồng khi xử lý không triệt để. Trong đó, công nghệ keo tụ - tạo bông sử dụng polyacrylamide (PAA) tổng hợp, mặc dù đạt hiệu suất xử lý cao, song làm phát sinh lượng bùn thải chứa monomer acrylamide độc hại – tác nhân gây suy thoái đất và tích lũy sinh học qua chuỗi dinh dưỡng. Nghiên cứu này đề xuất giải pháp thay thế bằng nguồn polyme sinh học từ phụ phẩm nông nghiệp. Cây đay (Corchorus capsularis L.), một loài bản địa phân bố rộng tại Việt Nam, chứa hàm lượng đáng kể polyme trong thân và lá. Dịch chiết polysaccharide thu nhận thông qua quy trình cơ lý bao gồm nghiền mẫu, thủy phân nhiệt (80 °C, 60 phút), lọc sợi 0,4 mm và ly tâm phân tách (3000 rpm, 5 phút). Thí nghiệm Jartest đánh giá hiệu quả phối hợp giữa phèn nhôm (Al2(SO4)3) và dịch chiết đay cho thấy: Ở điều kiện pH 7,0, liều lượng 75 mg/L Al2(SO4)3 và 15 mg/L dịch chiết cây đay, quá trình xử lý đạt hiệu suất loại bỏ 89,0% độ màu, 89,3% độ đục và 62,0% COD sau 15 phút lắng. Kết quả khẳng định tính khả thi của việc ứng dụng dịch chiết từ phụ phẩm cây đay như chất trợ keo tụ sinh học, mở ra hướng tiếp cận bền vững trong quản lý nước thải dệt nhuộm thông qua tận dụng phế liệu nông nghiệp và giảm phụ thuộc vào hóa chất tổng hợp.
