This study examines the intersection of AI and ESG research by combining bibliometric analysis with content analysis guided by the TCM–ADO framework. A total of 157 journal articles published between 2017 and 2025 were retrieved from the Scopus database. VOSviewer was employed to map co-authorship, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence networks, while Microsoft Excel was used for descriptive statistics. The analysis identified six thematic clusters: (1) sustainability and environmental finance, (2) corporate ESG practices, (3) AI techniques and methods, (4) green innovation with regional perspectives, (5) AI applications in sustainability, and (6) ESG performance metrics. The application of the TCM–ADO framework enabled the systematic categorization of antecedents, decisions, and outcomes, alongside theoretical, contextual, and methodological dimensions. The findings offer a comprehensive overview of the intellectual structure and evolution of AI–ESG scholarship. This study contributes by providing scholars with conceptual clarity, offering practitioners actionable insights for aligning AI with ESG strategies, and supporting policymakers in designing evidence-based policies for sustainable and responsible innovation.
