Terpenoids trong thực vật đem lại nhiều công dụng giàu tính sinh học, bao gồm các công dụng như kháng viêm sơ bộ, kháng oxy và kháng các loài vi khuẩn cùng với nhiều lợi ích khác. Nghiên cứu này hướng đến việc thu nhận terpenoids từ cây củ gấu (Cyperus esculentus) thông qua hai phương pháp: chiết xuất được thực hiện dưới tác động của vi sóng (MAE) và sóng siêu âm (UAE), đồng thời đánh giá khả năng chống vi khuẩn của dịch chiết xuất. Mục tiêu là đánh giá và so sánh hiệu suất chiết xuất giữa hai phương pháp trong việc thu hồi hàm lượng terpenoids từ loài C. esculentus. Ngoài ra, hai phương pháp siêu âm và vi sóng đã cho thấy, giảm đi mức tiêu hao năng lượng và rút ngắn được thời gian thử nghiệm. Đây được xem là kỹ thuật chiết xuất xanh đầy triển vọng, mở ra khả năng ứng dụng phổ biến trong việc thu nhận các hợp chất có hoạt tính sinh học từ nhiều loại thực vật khác nhau. Đối với phương pháp chiết bằng vi sóng, khi tiến hành quá trình trích ly ở tỉ lệ nguyên liệu so với dung môi 1/20 (w/v), kết hợp với công suất vi sóng 360 W và thời gian xử lý chiếu vi sóng là 2 phút, lượng terpenoids đạt được 83,37 ± 0,97 mg/gck. Công suất (%) và thời gian (phút) của quá trình siêu âm là các yếu tố được nghiên cứu nhằm tối ưu hóa việc thu nhận hàm lượng terpenoids. Từ kết quả thí nghiệm, ở mức công suất 25% và thời gian 9 phút, lượng terpenoids đạt được 78,79 ± 1,00 mg/gck. Terpenoids có tính ức chế đối với các vi khuẩn, điển hình như các loài Gram âm (E. coli, Salmonella) và Gram dương (S. aureus, B. subtilis).
